Our story
Created by Leigh Nicholson in 2012, “Hanging Gardens wasn’t meant to be a business”! Leigh wanted a product to hang plants on down her driveway, to beautify her “backyard”. Not being able to find anything suitable in NZ, she made her own. The resulting Vertical Garden Modules she designed are the most premium on the market. Made out of UV stabilised High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), the product is strong, sustainable and designed to withstand New Zealand’s temperamental climate.
The pockets are large enough for plants to grow with room for a healthy root ball. The patented polyester Felt Pocket Insert with a nylon waterproof membrane ensures the plants do not dry out rapidly, giving plants the best opportunity to thrive as a living wall. Being a separate insert, you can move the plants around depending what look you are after, and replace as you want with less mess and a lot of ease. Whether it’s a kitchen garden to grow your favourite herbs and veges or you want to beautify a garden fence or retaining wall - there are so many options!
After 12 years, Leigh has handed over the reins to us - and here we are as Sage GardenScapes, looking forward to seeing what happens next.
About us
We are sisters with a love of nature and beautifying spaces! We were given the opportunity to take on this product and jumped at the chance. Nic has a background working in the Horticulture Industry, has a great knowledge of plants and enjoys finding interesting plants to add to her garden. Ally has a background in Account Management and Marketing. She loves spending time working on her rural property, the key being low maintenance planting!
